Embrace the plateau in your relationship with God, for it is often in the stillness that we find the strength to climb higher.

Let’s talk about passion for the Lord. When we say we’re ‘on fire,’ it often boils down to just feeling a surge of emotions. We gauge our passion for God based on how we feel in the moment—whether we’re feeling spiritually aligned, moved by worship, or inspired by Scripture. And while those feelings are not inherently bad, they’re not the full picture.

True passion for God isn’t just about fleeting emotions. It’s about knowing God deeply and relying on the work of Jesus Christ. It’s about constantly seeking His presence, seeing Him for who He is, and letting that transform us from the inside out.

Yes, it’s possible to be on fire for God and stay on fire. But let’s redefine what that means. It’s not about conforming to cultural expectations or chasing after temporary highs. It’s about a deep, unwavering commitment to grow closer to God every single day.

We’re not meant to settle for a stagnant faith. We’re meant to be on a journey of transformation, moving ‘from glory to glory.’ That means we’re constantly evolving, learning, and drawing nearer to the heart of God.

Hebrews 3:13 reminds us of the power of encouragement in our faith journey. We’re called to lift each other, to spur one another on toward love and good deeds. But it’s not just about offering words of affirmation—it’s about cultivating a community of believers who rely wholeheartedly on Christ.

In Hebrews 3:12, the author urges us to persist in faith, to hold firm to our confidence in Christ, and to trust in His promises. We’re reminded that our strength doesn’t come from following a set of rules or adhering to the law of Moses—it comes from our unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.

Why do we buy into the lie that spiritual plateaus are the norm? That living a holy, passionate life for the Lord is reserved for the select few? I used to think that way too, believing that my emotions were the key to staying close to God. But let’s face it—emotions can be as unpredictable as the weather in Florida. How was I supposed to maintain a constant connection with God when my emotions were all over the place?

But here’s the truth: spiritual plateaus, though they may happen, are not meant to be our default state. They’re God’s gentle way of guiding us back to truth when we’ve become too reliant on external circumstances. It’s His way of intervening in our lives, leading us to deeper intimacy with Him.

If you’re like me, always chasing the next high, those seasons of drought and plateau can feel like a waste of time. But they’re not. They’re an invitation from God to draw near to Him, to experience His presence in new and profound ways.

So when you find yourself in a dry season, don’t run from it. Embrace it as an opportunity to refocus, to realign your heart with God’s. Even when you don’t feel connected to Jesus, remember that He’s always at work behind the scenes, orchestrating something beautiful in your life.

Our relationship with God goes beyond fleeting emotions. It’s about trust, surrender, and unwavering faith. So let’s lean into these seasons of drought, knowing that God is using them to draw us closer to Him and to reveal His faithfulness in ways we never imagined
