Have you ever found yourself so caught up in your daily routine—emails, errands, dinner plans, appointments—that you suddenly realize you’ve drifted far from God without even noticing?

You’re not alone.

We wake up with good intentions, but life moves fast. The weight of responsibilities begins to press on our shoulders. We’re running on autopilot. And it’s usually when we’re depleted, overwhelmed, or hurting that we find ourselves finally getting on our knees, whispering, “God, I need You.”

But what if we didn’t wait until life unraveled to make time for Him?

What if intimacy with God became the first thing we reached for instead of the last?

God’s Word Is Not a To-Do Item

God didn’t give us His Word to check off a religious box. It’s not just a book—it’s a living, breathing guide meant to speak into your everyday life.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105

When we read the Word intentionally, not out of duty but out of desire, something shifts. We don’t just learn about God—we begin to know Him.

What if You Made Room for God First?

Imagine waking up and before the scroll, before the to-do list, before the coffee even—you opened your journal.

You lit a candle.

You played a worship song.

You read one Psalm and simply said: “Speak, Lord, I’m listening.”

Would your day feel different?

Would your stress carry less weight?

Would your soul feel more grounded—more at peace?

Here’s the truth:

We often say we don’t have time for God. But in reality…

We don’t make time.

And yet, when crisis hits—when the anxiety is too heavy, when the loneliness creeps in, when the doctor calls—it’s then that we suddenly find time to pray. To cry out. To seek Him.

What would happen if we gave Him our attention before the breakdown?

Journal This:

Take a moment right now. Find a quiet spot and ask yourself:

• When was the last time I truly sat in God’s presence—unrushed?

• What distractions are stealing the time I could spend with Him?

• What would my life look like if I sought Him before the overwhelm?

• What’s one intentional thing I can do tomorrow morning to put God first?

Let This Be Your Prayer:

“God, I don’t want to give You what’s left of me. I want to give You the best of me. Awaken a hunger in my heart to know You—not because I have to, but because I want to. Teach me to be intentional with my time, so I don’t drift—I dwell. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Final Thoughts:

Being intentional with God doesn’t have to look like a 2-hour Bible study or a perfect morning routine. It starts with one choice: to turn your heart toward Him today.

Start small.

Stay consistent.

Watch what happens.

Now it’s your turn, friend—will you choose Him before the chaos or only in it?
