Romans 8:14–15 tells us, “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’”

God is a good Father — a perfect Father. He loves you with a matchless, unwavering love.

Our earthly fathers play an important role in our lives, whether they were present or absent, kind or hurtful, strong or broken. Ideally, a father’s role is to guide us toward the love of our Heavenly Father. Some fathers model this well — they point us to God’s perfect, boundless love through their own loving leadership. Others, through their flaws, wounds, or absence, leave gaps in our hearts that can only be filled by God Himself.

If you have ever experienced the pain of a parent’s neglect, abandonment, or harm, I want you to hear this clearly: God has always been there for you. Psalm 27:10 reminds us, “Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.” He steps into the broken places left by imperfect parents. He offers us loving authority, gentle guidance, unending grace, tender compassion, fierce protection, and perfect faithfulness.

Through Jesus Christ, we are not just rescued — we are adopted into God’s family. The Holy Spirit living in us is the proof, the seal, that we are His beloved children. By faith, you can walk confidently in the privileges of being God’s heir: full acceptance, spotless purity, and a secure identity as His own.

Father, I am humbled by Your acceptance of me. Thank You for the privileges I enjoy because I am Your child. I call on You tonight — be close to me. Wrap me in the warmth of Your love and remind me of Your presence.

Take a moment to reflect:
    •    How has your earthly father — whether through his love or his shortcomings pointed you to the immeasurable greatness of God’s fatherhood?
    •    Where do you need to let God heal the father (or mother) wounds in your heart?
    •    How can you walk more fully today in the privileges of being a child of God?

You are not abandoned. You are not forgotten. You are chosen, beloved, and held.
