Welcome to Bible Chicks – Where Faith Meets Real Life
By Nancy Duarte
Hello, beautiful sister in Christ!
Welcome to Bible Chicks, a space created just for you, a woman of God who wants to live authentically, courageously, and purposefully. Whether you’re here because you’re searching for more, healing from something painful, or simply wanting to grow deeper in your faith, you are exactly where you’re supposed to be.
This is our very first blog together, and I’m so excited about the journey we’re about to begin. Throughout 2026, we’ll be exploring what it means to be a woman of God in today’s world, not a perfect woman, but an authentic one. Not a woman who has it all figured out, but one who’s brave enough to keep transforming into who God created her to be.
Today, we’re starting with something powerful: uncovering your God-given superpowers and learning to live the courageous, meaningful life God designed specifically for you.
You Were Created With Superpowers
Yes, you read that right. Superpowers.
I know that might sound unconventional for a Christian blog, but stay with me. The world tells us that superpowers belong to fictional heroes in capes. But the Bible tells us something far more incredible:
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)
Did you catch that? You are God’s handiwork. His masterpiece. His intentional creation.
And He didn’t just create you to exist. He made you with specific gifts, talents, passions, and purposes that He prepared in advance. That’s not generic. That’s not one-size-fits-all. That’s you, uniquely and purposefully designed by the Creator of the universe.
Your superpowers aren’t laser vision or super strength. They’re the unique combination of:
- The way God wired your personality
- The gifts He placed within you
- The passions He ignited in your heart
- The experiences (even the painful ones) He’s using to shape you
- The calling He’s placed on your life
These are your God-given superpowers. And it’s time to uncover them.
Why We Hide Our Superpowers
If God gave us these incredible gifts and purposes, why do so many of us feel like we’re living far below what we were created for?
Because somewhere along the way, we learned to hide.
Maybe you learned to hide your light because:
- Someone told you that you were “too much” or “not enough.”
- You were raised in an environment where being yourself wasn’t safe
- You’ve been hurt by people who should have protected you
- You’ve been taught that being a “good Christian woman” means being quiet, small, and always pleasing others
- You’ve been carrying shame that tells you you’re not worthy of the calling God has for you
- You’ve believed the lie that your past disqualifies you from your purpose
But here’s what God says about you:
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” (Jeremiah 1:5)
God knew you before you took your first breath. He set you apart, meaning He made you different, unique, with a specific purpose—before you were even born.
Every gift He placed in you was intentional. Every passion He gave you was purposeful. And nothing, not your past, not your mistakes, not what others have said about you, can erase what God has written over your life.
The Enemy of Your Superpowers: Toxicity
Here’s something we need to talk about honestly, sister to sister: You cannot become who God created you to be while you’re surrounded by toxicity.
Toxic relationships, toxic environments, toxic patterns, and toxic beliefs will sabotage your purpose every single time.
Toxicity comes in many forms:
- Relationships that diminish instead of encourage
- People who criticize your growth because it threatens their control
- Environments that require you to shrink to fit in
- Beliefs about yourself that contradict what God says about you
- Behaviors and patterns that keep you stuck in survival mode
- Voices (internal or external) that tell you you’re not worthy, capable, or called
The Bible is clear about this:
“Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’” (1 Corinthians 15:33)
Notice it doesn’t say “bad company might affect you” or “bad company could influence you.” It says bad company corrupts good character. It’s not a maybe, it’s a certainty.
And in Proverbs, we’re warned repeatedly about the company we keep:
“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” (Proverbs 13:20)
If you’re walking with people who are dragging you away from your purpose, you’re not going to become wise—you’re going to suffer harm.
Let me be clear: I’m not talking about having non-Christian friends or being in a relationship with imperfect people (we’re all imperfect!). I’m talking about toxic relationships that actively interfere with you becoming who God created you to be.
What Toxicity Does to Your Purpose
When you’re in toxic relationships or environments, several things happen:
1. Your gifts get buried. You stop using the talents God gave you because toxic people feel threatened by them. You dim your light to make them comfortable.
2. Your identity gets confused. Instead of knowing yourself as God’s beloved daughter, you define yourself by what toxic people say about you or what they need from you.
3. Your energy gets drained. God gave you energy and passion for your purpose, but you’re spending it all managing toxic people, walking on eggshells, or recovering from their chaos.
4. Your calling gets delayed. You can’t step into what God has called you to do when you’re stuck managing what God has called you to leave.
5. Your voice gets silenced. God gave you a message, a testimony, a calling to speak truth and offer encouragement, but toxic people need you to stay quiet so they can maintain control.
Jesus said it this way:
“Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” (Matthew 5:15)
Toxicity is the bowl that covers your light. And God never intended for your light to be hidden.
The Uncomfortable Truth About Transformation
Here’s where we need to get real: Becoming who God wants you to be will be uncomfortable.
There. I said it.
Transformation isn’t easy. It’s not a smooth, painless process. It requires:
- Letting go of relationships that no longer serve your purpose
- Setting boundaries with people you love
- Saying no when you’ve always said yes
- Speaking up when you’ve always stayed quiet
- Choosing yourself when you’ve been taught that’s selfish
- Walking away from what’s familiar to walk toward what’s purposeful
And yes, it will get uncomfortable.
But do you know what else is uncomfortable? Living your entire life knowing you were created for more, but never having the courage to pursue it.
Do you know what’s uncomfortable? Standing before God one day and realizing you spent your whole life trying to please people who weren’t even pleased with themselves.
The Bible tells us:
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2)
Transformation requires non-conformity. It requires you to stop fitting into the molds that others (or the world, or even religion) try to put you in.
It requires you to be transformed, which literally means to be changed in form, to become something different than what you were.
And yes, that’s uncomfortable. Because change always is.
But here’s the promise: when you’re willing to be transformed, you’ll discover God’s good, pleasing, and perfect will for your life. Not someone else’s version of what your life should look like—God’s actual plan for you.
Isn’t that worth the discomfort?
How to Uncover Your God-Given Superpowers
So how do we actually do this? How do we uncover the gifts God has given us and start living authentically?
STEP 1: Get Quiet Before God
“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)
You can’t hear God’s voice over your life when you’re drowning in everyone else’s voices. You need to create space—quiet, intentional space—to be still before Him.
Practice:
- Spend time in prayer, asking God to reveal the gifts He’s placed in you
- Journal about what makes you come alive
- Ask God to show you what He created you to do
- Listen. Actually listen. Don’t just talk to God, let Him speak to you.
STEP 2: Identify Your Gifts
“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.” (Romans 12:6)
God gave you specific gifts. Not the same gifts as your sister, your friend, your pastor, or your mother. Your gifts.
Ask yourself:
- What do I do naturally well?
- What do people consistently come to me for?
- What lights me up when I’m doing it?
- What feels like “play” to me but is “work” for others?
- When do I feel most like myself?
- What injustices or needs break my heart?
These answers point to your gifts.
STEP 3: Remove What Hinders
“Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” (Hebrews 12:1)
Notice it says everything that hinders. Not just sin—but everything. That includes:
- Toxic relationships
- Limiting beliefs
- People-pleasing patterns
- Fear of rejection
- Need for approval
- Unforgiveness (of yourself or others)
- Shame about your past
If it’s hindering you from running your race, it has to go.
STEP 4: Step Into Discomfort
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
God wouldn’t command you to be strong and courageous if the journey was going to be easy and comfortable. He knows it’s going to require bravery.
But He promises to be with you.
Every step of discomfort. Every hard conversation. Every boundary you set. Every time you choose yourself over their approval. Every moment you feel scared, but do it anyway.
He. Is. With. You.
STEP 5: Live Authentically
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)
Living authentically means living in truth—the truth of who God says you are, not who others have told you to be.
Authentic living looks like:
- Being the same person in public and private
- Speaking your truth with love and grace
- Honoring your values even when it’s unpopular
- Setting boundaries without guilt
- Using your gifts without apology
- Being honest about your struggles and your strengths
- Showing up as yourself, not as who you think you should be
And the promise? Freedom.
Freedom from performing. Freedom from pretending. Freedom from shrinking. Freedom from hiding.
Freedom to be fully, authentically, courageously YOU.
What Happens When You Live Authentically
When you start living as the woman God created you to be, when you uncover your superpowers and use them for His glory—everything changes.
You’ll discover:
Purpose: Instead of wandering through life wondering what you’re here for, you’ll wake up knowing exactly what God has called you to do.
Peace: Instead of constantly fighting to be someone you’re not, you’ll rest in being exactly who you are.
Power: Not worldly power, but the power that comes from knowing who you are in Christ and operating in the gifts He gave you.
Passion: You’ll feel alive again. Excited. Energized. On fire for what God has placed in your heart.
Impact: Your life will matter. Not because you’re perfect, but because you’re authentic. And authenticity always impacts people more than perfection ever could.
And here’s the beautiful truth:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
God’s plans for you are good. They’re meant to prosper you, not harm you. They’re meant to give you hope and a future.
But you can’t walk into those plans while you’re still holding onto what God has asked you to release.
A Message to the Godly Woman Reading This
I want to speak directly to your heart for a moment.
You are a daughter of the Most High God.
Not because of what you do, but because of whose you are. Not because you’re perfect, but because He chose you.
You were created in His image (Genesis 1:27). That means you carry the very DNA of the Creator. You reflect His character, His creativity, His power, His love.
You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Every part of you—your personality, your quirks, your passions, your experiences—was intentionally designed by a God who doesn’t make mistakes.
You are loved with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3). Nothing you’ve done, nothing that’s been done to you, nothing you will do can separate you from His love.
You are chosen (1 Peter 2:9). Handpicked. Selected. Called for a specific purpose.
You are equipped (2 Timothy 3:17). God doesn’t call you to something without equipping you for it.
And you are worthy (Revelation 3:4). Not because of your performance, but because of His grace.
Sister, you are a godly woman. Not because you’re perfect, but because you belong to a perfect God who is transforming you day by day into His image.
And it’s time to step into that identity fully.
The Invitation
As we begin this journey together in 2026, I want to invite you to something radical:
What if this is the year you finally uncover your God-given superpowers?
What if this is the year you release the toxicity that’s been holding you back?
What if this is the year you get uncomfortable on purpose so you can become who God created you to be?
What if this is the year you live authentically, courageously, and meaningfully?
What if this is the year you stop hiding your light and let it shine for all to see?
It won’t be easy. Transformation never is. But it will be worth it.
And you don’t have to do it alone.
That’s why Bible Chicks exists. We’re a community of women who are choosing to become who God created us to be, together. Imperfectly. Courageously. Authentically.
Throughout this year, we’ll dive deep into topics like:
- Identifying and using your spiritual gifts
- Setting biblical boundaries
- Healing from toxic relationships
- Discovering your God-given purpose
- Building authentic faith
- Overcoming fear and stepping into courage
- Living out your calling even when it’s hard
This is just the beginning, sister. And I’m so glad you’re here.
Your Assignment This Week
Before we close, I want to give you something practical to do this week:
1. Pray this prayer:
“God, reveal to me the gifts You’ve placed within me. Show me who You created me to be. Give me the courage to release anything that’s hindering me from becoming that woman. Help me live authentically, courageously, and purposefully for Your glory. I trust that Your plans for me are good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
2. Journal these questions:
- What would I do if I weren’t afraid?
- What makes me feel most alive?
- What have I been hiding or shrinking because of what others might think?
- What toxicity in my life needs to be addressed?
- Who does God say I am, and how is that different from who I’ve been acting like?
3. Take one brave step: Choose one thing this week that moves you toward your authentic self, even if it’s uncomfortable. Maybe it’s setting a boundary. Maybe it’s using a gift you’ve been hiding. Maybe it’s having an honest conversation. Maybe it’s simply choosing to believe what God says about you instead of what others have said.
Just one step. That’s all. One step toward who you were created to be.
Welcome Home, Sister
This is your home now. Bible Chicks is a place where you can be real, be imperfect, be growing, and be loved exactly as you are while you’re becoming who God created you to be.
You don’t have to have it all together. You don’t have to pretend. You don’t have to perform.
You just have to be willing to transform.
And if you’re willing, God will do the rest.
“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)
He started the work in you. And He’ll finish it. You’re not alone in this.
Welcome to Bible Chicks. Welcome to your community. Welcome to the beginning of uncovering your superpowers and living the courageous, meaningful, authentic life God created you for.
2026 is going to be powerful!. I can feel it.
Are you ready?
With love and faith,
Nancy
