When Heaven Touches Earth, and We Finally Know Where We Are

Many believers hope for a moment of clarity when God’s presence feels personal. For some, it happens suddenly and is unmistakable. For others, it comes slowly or in surprising ways. Some are still waiting, unsure if it will ever happen. No matter where you are, you’re not excluded. God’s story is big enough for everyone.

You might sense it during worship, when a song changes and the atmosphere shifts. It could happen early in the morning, before anyone else is awake, when you feel God’s presence as a mild warmth. Or it might come during a hard time, when you feel broken, and suddenly realize you are not alone.

In those moments, your spirit understands something your mind can’t fully explain.

You are standing on holy ground.

The Song That Carries a Revelation

Many of us know the song. Standing on Holy Ground has been sung in churches, prayer rooms, homes, hospital chapels, and at gravesides for years. The melody is simple, and the words are few. But when the chorus begins,

We are standing in His being on holy ground.

Something happens that goes outside music. Something moves in the atmosphere. Voices that were singing out of habit suddenly take on a meaning beyond music. The atmosphere changes. People who were singing out of habit suddenly mean every word. Eyes that were dry fill with unexpected tears. The room, wherever it is, becomes something different. What do you mean?

The idea of holy ground did not begin with a worship song. It began with a man in a desert, tending sheep, who looked up and saw a bush on fire that would not burn.

Moses wasn’t in a cathedral or preparing for a spiritual moment. He was doing his regular work when God appeared and said, Take off your sandals. The ground where you are standing is holy.

It wasn’t because Moses deserved it or because the desert was special. It was because God was there. Wherever God is, the ground beneath you changes. His song continually reminds us of the message: God’s presence converts any place into holy ground.

Holy ground isn’t about a specific place. It’s about God’s presence, which is available anywhere, anytime, to anyone.

Wherever God is, that place is holy ground. And He is here.

Angels All Around

The song mentions angels. I know that there are angels all around. For many people today, this line can seem like poetry instead of a real statement. But angels are more than just a nice image. Scripture and tradition say angels are spiritual beings who serve God and help His people.

Many believe that during worship, angels join us, adding their voices and presence. Sometimes, people sense them as deep peace, sudden clarity, or a feeling as if something unseen is close. This isn’t just an old story; it’s a real part of worship for believers through the ages.

But the Scripture is clear, and the saints’ Scripture is clear, and believers throughout history have said the same thing: we are not ever alone in worship. When God’s people gather, when praise rises and hearts open, and God’s presence comes, we are not the only ones there.

Created on His throne, and the angels cry out, “Holy, holy, holy,” and the very doorposts shake with the sound of it. In Revelation, John sees the throne room of heaven, and worship is the language of that place. Unceasing, glorious, unashamed worship.

Here’s the amazing truth: when we worship, we join in with that heavenly worship. We don’t just copy it from far away—we take part in it. The barrier between our worship here and the worship around God’s throne is thinner than we think.

The angels aren’t watching from a distance. They are here, standing with us, ministering among us, present in the holy moment that worship creates.

You are never worshipping alone.

Let Us Praise Jesus

This song invites us to take part. It’s not only about noticing God’s holiness or presence. It calls us to praise, to join our voices together, and to become part of something more significant than our own private worship.

Let us praise Jesus.

We don’t praise because God needs it; the rocks would cry out if we were silent. We praise because we need to. When we turn to God in real adoration, something happens in us that can’t happen any other way. We are healed, refocused, and reminded of what’s true, what’s real, and who is truly in charge of this world that commonly feels out of control.

When we truly praise Jesus—not as a performance or a duty, but from a heart that knows Him—we are changed. The ground beneath us shifts. The ordinary becomes sacred. What appeared heavy becomes lighter. What was fearful becomes brave.

Praise isn’t just a warm-up for something else. Praise is the main thing. It creates the atmosphere in which healing, revelation, transformation, and encounter can happen.

You Are Already There

The main message is this: wherever you are, you can stand on holy ground because God is with you.

You don’t need to go somewhere special to stand on holy ground. You don’t have to wait for Sunday or feel worthy, prepared, or spiritually put together. You don’t have to force a feeling or try to make yourself emotional.

You simply have to turn toward Him.

Because He is already there. He has always been with you—in your kitchen, your car, your grief, or your ordinary Tuesday. He is present in your mess, your questions, your tiredness, and your uncertainty.

He is there. And where He is, the ground is holy.

Take off your shoes. Quiet your heart for just a moment.

You are standing in His presence.

There is nothing on earth more sacred than that.

“The place where you are standing is holy ground.” — Exodus 3:5
